According to the Evening Standard, Arsene Wenger and his medical staff will wait as long as possible before making a final decision on Sanchez's fitness.
The Chilean hasn't featured since limping off with a hamstring problem during a clash with Norwich in November.
Wenger refused to completely rule the dynamic winger out of the game against City and his return to training on Monday only raised expectations.
He said: "I think the closest to have the chance is Sanchez but medically we think he won't be ready - but Sanchez being Sanchez you never know."
