Chelsea appoint Guus Hiddink as manager until the end of the season

The Dutchman, who previously took temporarycharge to help them win theFA Cupin 2009, has been brought in to replace Jose Mourinho,who left the club on Thursday.
Hiddink proved to be a popular figure in his short time in charge at Stamford Bridge, in a role he balanced while in charge of the Russian national team. Hiddink, 69, whose last post was as Holland coach, said on the club's official website: "I amexcited to return to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment. However, I am sure we can all turn this seasonaround."He added: 'I am looking forward to working with the players and staff at this great club andespecially renewing my wonderful relationship with the Chelsea fans."Hiddink is at Stamford Bridge for Saturday's match withSunderlandbut Mourinho's numbertwo Steve Holland will take control of the teamalongside Eddie Newton, who is now assistantfirst-team coach.Hiddink previously took temporary charge of Chelsea in February 2009 and guided the Bluesto FA Cup success at Wembley.
