Arsenal star Mathieu Flamini may not be at the top of the list for any footballing awards but he has been honoured in a more general way.
The Frenchman has been named in the inaugural NME People of the Year list.
Flamini joins the likes of Taylor Swift, Adele and Scottish MP Mhairi Black in a list of who the magazine consider to be modern-day heroes for their triumphs in 2015.
The defensive midfielder has been nominated for his antics off the pitch rather than on it where he revealed that he is running a global energy company.
And he makes the list ‘for trying to save the world with his geo-energy company GF Biochemicals.’
