Jack Collison: Ex-West Ham and Wales player retires at 27

Collison is retiring from football at the age of 27 because of injury.

Collison played 121 times for West Ham, but suffered persistent knee problems.

He signed for League One Peterborough in 2015, playing 12 times, but will now focus on a coaching and media career.

"The nights I wake up in pain, or the mornings where I struggle to walk, will be a constant reminder I was lucky enough to play the game I love," said Collison, capped 17 times by Wales.

"I still wake up some mornings feeling good and think 'one more try'," said Collison, who dislocated a kneecap while playing for the Hammers in 2009.

"But that would be unfair on myself, my fellow pros and my family. I want to bow out with some pride intact."

Hundreds of people are feared trapped in collapsed buildings after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan.

'Multiple' buildings - including at least one residential block - are said to have fallen following the quake which shook the island at about 4am on Saturday.

Reports emerging suggest Tainan, on the south-west coast, was the worst affected, with pictures of buildings partially or completely destroyed circulating on social media, while video footage shows rescue workers wading through water after the mains burst.

At least five aftershocks of 3.8-magnitude or more shook Tainan about half an hour after the initial quake, according to Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau.
Rescuers are seen entering an office building that collapsed early on Saturday morning
The quake was very shallow, at depth of 6.2 miles (10 km), which would have amplified its effects, the United States Geographical Survey said.
